With Attendance from LGE Media Club Members

Amman, Jordan - (24 June 2008) - LG Electronics (LGE), a global leader and technology innovator in the filed of consumer electronics, recently held a workshop at Sheraton Amman Hotel. Aiming to strengthen the ties with media organizations operating in Jordan, the workshop curriculum was designed to focus on enhancing the tools journalists use when undergoing investigative reporting projects. The workshop will allow them to ensure the dissemination of accurate information to LGE customers and to strengthen their presence in the domestic market.

The event was held on Sunday with the participation of 43 members from LGE media club.

The workshop sessions were conducted and supervised by the Executive Manager of Arab Reporters Investigative Journalism, Ms. Rana Sabbagh. It focused on the responsibilities of journalists seeking information from both legal and ethical points of view, while shedding light on the steps needed to write or prepare a successful press report. Ms. Sabbagh also explained how to use the internet as a source of information and research. She also discussed several ideas that should contribute to improving methods of writing and reporting structure.

Giving an opening lecture, Ms. Sabbagh thanked LGE for organizing this event, pointing out that such workshops would, undoubtedly, help create common grounds of understanding between the private sector and media firms.

"It is of most importance that journalists should abide by the principles of media when preparing for news and press reports", Ms. Sabbagh told her trainees. She further explained that journalists should maintain high levels of credibility when writing press releases and transforming actions to proper reports and news. She also explained that accuracy is based on facts, details and background of the topic. It also depends on related development, and clarity in the transfer of information. She further added, "We can not be completely neutral, but we have to have the intellectual honesty. to be aware of our emotions. Complete honesty is our duty as responsible journalists".

She also said, "Media today is used as a mean of information and political news. It reflects the public opinion and provides officials with the public reactions and the words of the street. Working with the media is like walking on a razer's edge. Every media member should be extremely careful and responsible when he or she embarks on journalistic undertaking, since readers trust the media as the fourth authority and as their source of behind the scenes information Today we are witnessing a great interest in economic affairs and the way they surprise the whole world.

She also said, "We as media members have to be very accurate when using terms that are usually used by industrial and commercial institutions. We should study the effect such terms leave on the public through our reports or writings. We should also work to simplify these terms to the readers whether they are print or electronic".

From his end, the General Manager of LGE Branch Amman, Mr. Kevin Cha said, "We, at LGE, always strengthen our relationship with the media sector. In 2006 we initiated the establishment of LGE media club, stemming from our belief that media members serve the same community- one goal. We strengthen our relationship with Jordanian media firms through exchanging information and holding periodical meetings. Aiming to consolidate our efforts in publishing our news and press releases, we place our confidence in our media representatives in Jordan, as our representatives in print and electronic media, we would like to stress that we are all working for the general good of the Jordanian people".

Ghazi Farouq, Deputy General Director, an agent of LGE Digital appliances products in Jordan Middle East Complex (MEC) added, "This event represents a golden opportunity for us at LGE to communicate with our media representatives. They hold a big credit for our success, since they provide us with a platform to market our products with high levels of integrity".

It is worth mentioning in this regard that LGE Media Club members get special offers and discounts. They also can obtain information about the Company's achievements easily, which helps them do their jobs better. The Media Club members can win exhilarating gifts in the annual sport and cultural competitions that LGE holds annually for the Jordanian journalists.

LGE support of the media sector is aimed at complimenting initiatives undertaken by adopting constructive alliances with various social sectors. LGE is the golden sponsor of Dead Sea Ultra Marathon, an event with proceeds going towards the benefit of the Society for Care of Neurological Patients (SCNP).
