Saudi Arabia will host an international forum on G-Cloud that will be arranged by the e-Government Program (YESSER) on  October 01, 2012. An elite group of cloud computing experts will attend the forum.

The forum is designed to discuss prospects of introducing e-government  cloud computing in Saudi Arabia. It will provide a rich environment for discussion and exchange of experience relevant to this concept.   The forum will seek ways to introduce this concept  in e-government services. Government trends will be reviewed in addition to the best international experience and practices. During the forum major features of the second action plan will be highlighted. Prospects of creating and delivering cloud computing services to government agencies will be discussed.

The forum targets e-government committee members, IT   infrastructure managers   and application developing managers in government agencies.

By arranging the forum, Yesser intends to introduce cloud computing concepts and highlight  the most prominent local and international trends, review practices of government agencies in countries that have introduced  cloud computing.  It will also sort  out e-services of government agencies that can be subjected to cloud computing applications.

Moreover, the forum   seeks to review KSA plan in this regard. Developing of cloud computing model is a major infrastructure initiative of the second action plan (2012 - 2016). It provides for developing a government strategy to use cloud computing technologies. Capable vendors will be selected to deploy infrastructure and platforms/ software that meet the  needs of government agencies.  To eliminate discontinuation of products by reason of any contingency,  the proposed services will be delivered through approved data centers. The initiative seeks to expedite implementation and acceptance of e-services and shared national systems. The proposed computer clouding model will be used to facilitate access by government agencies.

The forum is part of the efforts (YESSER) is making to improve productivity and efficiency of the public sector and ensure better services are delivered to individuals and business organizations. YESSER seeks to  motivate and enable government agencies implement e-government services.
