Team from Hult International Business School will represent the UAE in the International Case Competition being held in Sao Paulo, Brazil

KPMG held the third consecutive National Ace the Case Competition at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai recently. As always the competition brought together top teams from leading universities across the UAE gunning for the top honours. The team from Hult International Business School prevailed in the end after a tough two day competition by displaying exceptional investigative and presentation skills. The team will go onto represent the UAE at the 2014 KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) being held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Ace The Case is a yearly two-day case writing workshop and business case competition for graduate students held by KPMG UAE. It is designed to give university graduates an opportunity to develop their business case writing skills, analytical capabilities and presentation skills. This year's chief guest Mr. Abdulla Mohammed Al Ashram CEO, Emirates Post while speaking to the students said "back in the days when I was in Franklin University in Columbus Ohio, one of the things that I really appreciate till this day is the case studies l did. I really enjoyed working on them because they were from the practical world, based on real projects presented by our professors most of whom were full time employees during the day and taught us in the evening. These case studies provided me with a lot of real world knowledge that I have frequently used in my practical experience."

He also talked about how the competition was a great learning experience for the students and gives them a chance to discover the fast paced world of casework and tests their ability to develop innovative solutions to complex real-world business issues.

The winning team from Hult International Business School comprised of Bilal Noorgat, Mohsin Jawed, Nariman Rastravan and Mathias Cordesmeyer.

Ian Gomes Partner Advisory, Human Resources and Markets for KPMG Lower Gulf congratulated the students and said "Ace the Case gives all the participating students an insight into what it's like to work with clients, while building their social and professional network. I would also like to congratulate the winners on securing themselves an all-expenses-paid trip to the international final in São Paulo, where they will get a chance to represent the UAE and immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of Brazil."

During the two day workshop the top six teams came from the following universities competed for top honours:

  • Hult International Business School
  • Middlesex University
  • IIM Indore
  • SP Jain Center of Management
  • American University of Dubai
  • Heriot-Watt University Dubai

Reyana Menzel the Head of Human Resources and Learning also congratulated the winners and said "We are delighted to announce the winner of this year's National competition, is the team from 'Hult International Business School'. The students displayed an excellent ability to engage the clients, their smooth presentation skills, backed with sound analysis gave them a clear edge over the other teams." While talking about the event itself she said "we are glad to have held another successful event, showcasing some of the UAE's top graduates at their best. Ace The Case shows our commitment to the student community while giving them an opportunity to be mentored and coached by top KPMG professionals and eventually assisting them in making secure career choices."

The winners will travel to Brazil on the 1st of April, and will represent the UAE against the top universities from across the globe.
