Dubai, UAE -- Kodak's Health Group, a business unit of Eastman Kodak Company, and a world leader in advanced healthcare products, services and information technology (IT) solutions for the medical and dental professions, recently showcased, as a works-in-progress, the new KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 7500 System. This innovative direct-capture digital radiography (DR) system will provide the ultimate in flexibility--with single- and dual-detector options that enable medical facilities of any size to configure a DR solution that meets their individual space, application, workflow and budget requirements.
"At Arab Health 2005 we have the opportunity to show healthcare professionals Kodak's technological advancement in DR technology by introducing for the first time in the Middle East the DR7500 System," said Millan Alvarez-Miranda, Regional Business General Manager, Vice President, Kodak's Health Group Europe, Africa and Middle East region.  "Becoming an integral part of any medical operations unit, DR technology is now used within radiology departments, trauma suites and specialty practices," added Millan.

Shown for the first time at the annual meeting of the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America), the DR 7500 system features a wall stand with a unique retractable bucky capable of three-axis movement to capture a wide range of upright, horizontal and cross-table projections. The detector can be controlled manually or can be synchronized to the overhead x-ray tube so that a push button control will automatically center the beam to ensure accurate source-to-detector alignment.

The system also features a fixed, elevating table with four-way float that provides flexible patient positioning. The detector bucky can be extended from the table to accommodate extremity exams.

An autopositioning feature enables the equipment to automatically move into position when a technologist selects a preprogrammed exam.

The DR 7500 works-in-progress solution features an integrated operator console that will control all imaging functions to expedite workflow and support improved patient care. The new system will also feature the same user-friendly, touch-screen operator interface as other KODAK DIRECTVIEW computed radiography and digital radiography systems. This consistent operator interface enhances productivity and reduces the need for training.

When introduced, the DR 7500 system will augment Kodak's comprehensive portfolio of digital radiography systems. The KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 7100 system provides outstanding image quality and productivity for table, upright and extremity radiography exams. The KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 5100 system is designed for chest and other upright examinations for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients, while the KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 9000 system features a U-arm design with a full range of motion that can accommodate chest, extremity, abdominal and trauma exams.

KODAK Capture Link System Boosts Productivity
Kodak also demonstrates at Arab Health its KODAK DIRECTVIEW Capture Link System, which enhances productivity by giving technologists the ability to identify and process cassettes, and to review images, at any linked CR system or KODAK DIRECTVIEW Remote Operations Panel.

The Capture Link system also streamlines workflow when a study contains DR and CR images because it enables CR images to be identified and viewed, along with DR images, at the KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR system console. This capability is especially important for trauma cases, where time saved by this integration can have the greatest impact on patient care.
