Middle East and Africa records sales increase of over 41 per cent YoY
Dubai, UAE, December 10, 2007: Kingston Technology, the independent world leader in memory products, today announced it has reached a record-breaking US$1 billion in sales for 2007 in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The rapidly emerging Middle East and Africa region contributed US$65.5 million of the total sales. This equals a regional year-on-year sales increase of over 41 per cent in the Middle East and Africa and is testimony to how fast Kingston Technology is growing. Shipments to the region amounted to more than 3.6 million units.
The record breaking in sales for 2007 represents a significant increase in revenue of
22 per cent compared to 2006, and comes just one year after Kingston Technology celebrated a decade of trading across EMEA.
"We are delighted to have broken the US$1 billion mark", said Antoine Harb, Business Development Manager for Kingston Technology Middle East and Africa. "Reaching this remarkable milestone is proof that our commitment to providing outstanding levels of product quality and service has never been stronger. The Middle East and Africa's memory market is growing at an extremely fast rate when compared to other semiconductors."
"Much of this growth can be attributed to the extreme use of flash memory in portable media players, and the growth of the cellular phone market, where over one billion handsets are expected to be sold worldwide this year alone, as well as other electronic devices. The Middle East and Africa region is among the most rapidly growing emerging markets, and at a time when the market is looking for high quality memory solutions, such as DRAM and Flash memory, Kingston Technology offers a product range that is second to none and complies with regional standards," added Harb.
The latest product launched in the region, is the Kingston® Media Reader, an external, hi-speed reader designed to support 19 popular types of Flash memory cards. The reader is the perfect solution for moving data between Flash cards and a computer or other device with a USB port as it requires no adapters or power cable. This reader is perfect for the consumer or business professional who use multiple card formats to transfer data, music, photos, videos and other files between mobile phones, cameras, PCs and other devices.
Kingston Technology currently works through a designated distribution channel to distribute the entire range of Kingston products, promising to bring Kingston Technology closer to different markets within the Middle East and Africa. Kingston Technology employs more than 4,000 people worldwide and sells over 2,000 products to over 100 countries.
