Cairo/Egypt - Key Wimax professionals from Asia, Europe and the Middle East are set to gather in Cairo for a meeting to discuss next stages in Wimax rollouts and developments in technology from the region.
The meeting also plans to have additional session themes for Regulators, Telecommunications and Operators which will focus on spectruming, Wimax Voice and Investment ROIs. The meeting which is being held at the Conrad Cairo from the 23rd to the 24th June will be opened by Dr Amr Badawi, President of the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of Egypt. Other Professionals scheduled to attend the meeting include; Dr Samer Taha of Waseela, Dr Tang Pen San of Packet One ( a Green Packets Company) Mahmoud Abu Zanad of Zain, Antonio de Sousa of Teledata Mozambique, Shaid Miah of Wateen and officials from the Nigerian Communications Commission.
The Middle East presents significant opportunities for the development of WiMAX networks. The region's low broadband penetration represents a large untapped market that operators are keen to target, especially as regulators start opening up the fixed arena to expand connectivity. Numerous WiMAX licenses have been awarded to date and several more are expected in countries like Egypt, Qatar and Oman in the near future and there are also several deployments already underway.
