Cairo, Egypt, February 17, 2015

Jumia Egypt, the number one e-commerce website, today announced the opening of its first hub located in 18 Ibrahim Salamah Street, Abou El Mawaheb Square, near Aswan Square, Mohandessin, Giza. In a move to become closer to its customers, Jumia has invested in its first physical location that will serve the areas of West Cairo, Zamalek and downtown Cairo. The Jumia hub will offer a variety of services including in-store deliveries and pick-ups, refunds and most importantly, a face to face customer interaction, which has seen a rising demand from online shoppers in Egypt.

"E-commerce has dramatically changed the way brands reach their customers," said Tamer El Fiky, Marketing Manager of Jumia Egypt. "The entire online shopping experience is built around taking convenience to the next level. So after expanding our product portfolio, offering multiple payment methods and developing our customer service channels, it was time to invest in giving our customers the personal interaction they have always desired. The location of the first Jumia hub in Cairo was chosen to be Mohandessin in order to serve a large portion of our customers."

The Jumia Hub will also offer buyers of fashion items the opportunity to try on the pieces that they purchase and making an instant decision on size, colour, exchanges or refunds.

Shopping is a social activity and people like to sense and try their products. "At the Jumia Hub we give the customers the chance to pick up their packages and try on their apparel purchases in the hub fitting rooms and they can also return purchases that don't meet their expectations," added El Fiky.

Jumia aims to create a more personalized shopping experience for its customers, and by creating theJumia Hub it will be easier to understand more about the consumer preferences, record purchases, and keep track of sizing and fit profiles. This will provide more insights into shopping trends, and has the potential to drive sales and will enhance the online experience.

"Our aim through the hub is to bring together the online and offline experience right to the customer to build strong relationships and opportunities with them and have shoppers interacting with the brand in ways that are more personal and emotionally resonant ," said Tamer El Fiky.

When customers place an online order, they can choose to pick it up from the closest hub. Once the package is ready at the hub, the customer will receive an email notification that the package is ready for pickup, along with the hub address and working hours.
