Cairo, Egypt: Jumia, Africa's leading online shopping destination, today announced that its board of directors has appointed Hesham Safwat and Amaury Celier as the new CEOs for Jumia Egypt, as part of an aggressive growth strategy for 2015 and beyond. Former CEO Mattia Perroni, who played a key role in bringing JUMIA Egypt to the leading market position it is in today, is moving on to new challenges back home in Europe.

"In our continued focus on the Egyptian market, the company made a strategic decision to appoint two CEOs with diversified expertise to take JUMIA Egypt to the next level. Hesham Safwat, who has been with JUMIA Egypt since 2013, has 15years of offline and online retail experience and in starting and building retail environment outlets and businesses in Egypt. He has developed expertise in brand positioning, revenue growth, financial management, market share increase plans and driving operational excellence.

Amaury Celier, an engineer by profession, brings to Jumia a highly successful track record in start-up launch and growth. He is a successful entrepreneur in the oil and gas services business, with strong business development capabilities in emerging countries and the MENA region.
Commenting on his appointment, Amaury said: "I am honored to have been asked to take this role, and certainly thrilled to move to Egypt - which is on the verge of some fantastic developments in the e-commerce space. Jumia showed in the past year a great success in penetrating new market and strengthen its position in the e-commerce industry in Egypt. In 2014 Jumia announced the success of Sony's Shop in Shop and the increase of Sony online sales with 15%. Jumia announced partnering with Educate-Me to fuel E-learning of Underprivileged Children.
And its continues effort in the Fashion industry, Jumia launched Jumia Chic, the online fashion destination. In addition to the launch of its first fashion label under the name of Agu.
