Jumeirah becomes one of the few hotel groups to produce a CR report to globally embraced reporting standards
Dubai, 25th May 2009: Dubai-based luxury hotel company, Jumeirah Group, has today published their first Corporate Responsibility (CR) report, focussing on social, economic and environmental practices within its Dubai-based operations.
Jumeirah Group is the first hospitality company in the UAE to produce such a CR report. The report is based on Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 Sustainability Reporting Framework, with the aim of promoting sustainability and encouraging stakeholder dialogue and engagement, whilst increasing transparency and accountability within the Group.
"We are delighted to be able to publish our first Corporate Responsibility Report" commented Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman, Jumeirah Group, "We remain completely committed to conducting business in a responsible manner that creates a positive, balanced and sustained impact economically, socially and environmentally. Just as Sustainable Development is a process rather than an end goal, at Jumeirah we are committed to the ongoing development and implementation of CR practices within the Group's operations, through which continual improvement of our CR performance can occur."
The report covers business practice and operations in the areas of corporate governance, health and safety, and the environment, as well as responsibilities towards the Group's colleagues, customers, business partners, owners and the local community. It also addresses key issues in the hospitality industry such as Sustainable Tourism, Managing Change, HR Strategy, Local Community Engagement and Managing CR in the Supply Chain.
