May 28, 2011 - Amman - The international organizers of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) ranked Jordan 16th globally and 1st regionally for hosting the GEW 2010, organized by Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE) and Endeavor Jordan.

According to the international ranking of 105 countries, Jordan's hosting of the GEW was the best in the region, and worthy to be ranked 1st among the Middle Eastern countries and 16th globally, surpassing countries like Australia, Italy, and Germany in Global Entrepreneurship Week activities.

In his comment, Farhan Kalaldeh, QRCE Executive Director said, "This international ranking is considered a crowning achievement of the efforts of QRCE, Endeavor Jordan and GEW activities partners, in organizing the event for this year. We would also like to thank ARAMEX, Irisguard, Friedrich Naumann Foundation, and Pharmacy1 for sponsoring the event."

"We are extremely happy with this ranking, which confirms the kingdom's strong presence in the global and regional entrepreneurial scene. We give credit to the contribution of institutions, companies, individuals, governmental and non-governmental organizations, in making the GEW such a successful and one of a kind event, enabling Jordan to earn this high rank."

In its ranking, the GEW international organizers take into consideration the number of projects conducted within the GEW and the number of participants. GEW Jordan 2010 included 44 projects with around 15,000 participants; including entrepreneurs, investors, and students.

GEW's agenda included several entrepreneurial projects and initiatives such as the "Ammerha" initiative, "Falling Upward" project, and "Options of Tomorrow" project.

Preparing for this year activities, QRCE organized a preliminary workshop that aims at introducing the dimensions and objectives of the GEW, and establishing new strategic partnerships and collaborations with private and public sector organizations, motivating them to participate in the GEW 2011.

QRCE also hosted a media workshop that witnessed participation from daily, weekly, and monthly publications, in addition to television channels to secure adequate media coverage, boosting the Jordanian hosting of the GEW.

It is worth mentioning that more than 20 governmental organizations, academic establishments, companies and non-profit organizations participated in the GEW hosted in the Kingdom last year, to engage students, educators, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and others to foster the culture of entrepreneurship in the country and employ it to serve society.
