DIC to give away hundreds of prizes, and more
Dubai - The Dubai Internet City (DIC) Community Zone will stage an exciting array of competitions and entertainment at this year's Gitex Dubai - spread across the entirety of Concourse 2. Providing a live soundtrack to the action will be 'Blue Groove', an orchestral group featuring a pianist and three violinists brought over especially for Gitex from the UK.
Meanwhile, another showpiece to watch out for will be the authentic Formula One Ferrari sports car in the centre of the pavilion. As well as being able to get a good look at the car, visitors will be able to test their own driving skills by entering DIC's exclusive Sony Playstation2 (PS2) head-to-head racing competition. The DIC Zone will be specially kitted out with four networked PS2s, all featuring Formula One races, to give visitors the chance to pit their wits and win high-end prizes, such as PS2s, i-mate phones and Sony games.
Keeping in line with this year's adrenalin-fuelled theme, visitors will also be given the opportunity to enter a raffle sponsored by DIC and AMD to win tickets to see the Bahrain Grand Prix.
In addition, the Community Zone will showcase brand-new i-toy games on two stations provided by Sony - these innovative video games are controlled entirely by using the hands and no other device. Meanwhile, more on-the-spot entertainment will be provided by local radio Disc Jockey Tim Klassen, hosting competitions for mystery prizes and causing general mischief.
The DIC Community Zone has partnered with Channel 4 and Radio 2 to deliver live on-air competitions, where the listener sends answers via SMS to win a range of prizes, including Sagem mobile phones worth over AED 1,000 each. The radio stations will also beam out several interviews live from the Community Zone.
"The DIC team is looking forward to meeting visitors at what is set to be the most exciting Community Zone at Gitex yet. As always, we have attracted a stream of Business Partners who will join us in staging the fun," said Jamal Abdul Salam, Executive Director of DIC. "Importantly, visitors will get to learn more about DIC, however, all the activities have been devised to make the day entertaining as well as informative - creating a real sense of the DIC community feel."
