Dubai - J&J Ethicon hosted the Middle East's first interactive educational session for surgeons on Surgical Site Infections (SSIs). Over 70 International surgeons from around the Middle East participated at the session.
The meeting included a presentation by Professor Tony Hau, Sheikh Zayed Military Hospital on the impact of Surgical Site Infections (SSIs) and the evolution of treatment options. The audience of surgeons participated through a series of questions that were designed to create discussion on the causes and best practice methods for the management of Surgical Site Infections (SSIs). The results were displayed in real-time using an interactive audience voting system.
Of the seventy key opinion leaders who attended the presentation, 90 percent confirmed that the role of leading medical device companies such as J&J Ethicon, should include investment in new infection control technologies. In addition, 88 percent of surgeons stressed the importance of controlling bacterial wound contamination during the operation itself.
Hugo Craven, Gulf Sales Manager, Ethicon Products presented Vicryl Plus Antibacterial Suture, detailing J&J Ethicon's commitment to providing state-of-the-art technologies, which may have a significant impact on patients and hospitals by eliminating one of the risk factors contributing to Surgical Site Infections (SSIs).
