Vessel weighing 2500 tons Successfully Transported to New Workshop

DUBAI, April 18, 2007: Jadaf Dubai, which is affiliated to Dubai World's newly-launched maritime service provider Dubai Drydocks World, has successfully achieved its first ship lift at its new facility in Dubai Maritime city.

The operation involved hoisting a ship weighing 2,500 tons and transporting it safely to the ship repair yard's new maintenance workshop on the man-made peninsula.

It was carried out by the technical management team of Jadaf Dubai in the presence of a number of officials and marine engineers from DD World and Dubai Maritime City, using the new custom-made mega crane installed at the company's new docks.

The massive ship lift, 90 meters long, 25 meters wide and 14 meters in depth, is installed in the 100 meter long berth, and has a capacity to lift ships weighing up to 3,000 tons.

An even larger ship lift designed to service vessels weighing up to six thousand tons will be installed in an adjacent 150-meter long dock that will house 11 berths.

Jadaf Dubai, which began operations in 1978, provides comprehensive maintenance and repair services to owners of small and mid-sized vessels, large wooden boats, luxury yachts and cruise ships.

The latest successful ship lifting operation marks the beginning of a new stage for Jadaf Dubai as it moves to strengthen its position as the region's premier maritime service provide in its category of business.
