Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Iraqi Oil Minister to both attend and speak. First and only event to date offering opportunity to meet with Oil Ministry officials. High-level Iraqi government delegation to discuss proposed oil & gas law. Conference to highlight and speed up oil investment opportunities in Iraq
London--21st August 2007--The CWC Group (CWC) is delighted to announce that a high-level Iraqi government delegation - headed by H.E. Dr. Barham Salih, The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister, and H.E. Dr. Hussain Al-Shahristani, The Iraqi Minister of Oil - will attend its Iraq Petroleum 2007; International Investment in the Iraqi Oil Industry conference in Dubai on 8-10 September 2007.
The forum, which has been produced in co-operation with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, is the first opportunity to date for potential investors to listen to and meet with senior government officials who have a direct mandate to administer the country's hydrocarbon reserves.
The conference is highly topical, coming at a time when the release of the new, all-important oil and gas law is imminent. This will set the framework for future investment in Iraq's oil industry.
Attendees will receive an early insight into Iraqi government proposals for the future development of the oil industry with a unique opportunity for the international investment community to raise questions on the proposed law and new oil policy. Indeed, the event has been specifically structured so that Iraqi decision makers and their international counterparts can benefit from this rare possibility to explore the risks, problems and opportunities that face Iraq's oil industry today.
As well as the proposed law, foreign investment and long-term objectives, the conference will focus on the following issues:
- management of petroleum resources
- negotiations and contracting;
- field exploration and field development operations;
- oil transportation;
- current oil production capacity and fast track solutions;
- creating a stable environment for growth;
- and the role of the international oil companies in the development of the Iraqi oil industry
The Iraqi delegation who will be presenting at the conference includes several department heads from the Ministry of Oil, the Governor of the Central Bank, the Minister of Planning, and a representative from the Prime Minister's Advisor Office.
As well as addresses from the Iraqi delegation, the programme includes high-level, respected speakers from the international community who will address legal, technical, financing and marketing issues.
CWC has also organised a workshop on 10 September entitled Understanding the Emerging Petroleum Legal Regime in Iraq, which will provide investors with a key insight into the new legislation.
