DUBAI, May 17: Thirteen teams representing several departments of Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD) played against each other in the 'Mansour Humaid Al Shamsi Football Tournament', whereby the Investigation Team brought the final match to an end by beating Airport Team 3 to 2. The second and third places were won by the Airport Teams 1 and 2.
Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Marri, Director of DNRD, attended the closing ceremony of the DNRD Football Tournament for the employees on Thursday at Al Shabab Al Arabi Club in Dubai. The Tournament was named after an employee known for his passion for football who passed away in a car accident on his way to attend the Gulf Cup final between UAE and Oman.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior officials of DNRD, employees and a large number of the public. To mark the closing of the tournament, Major General Al Marri paid tribute to the departed employee and thanked all the playing teams for their enthusiasm demonstrated during matches and he also thanked the organizing committee and the sponsors.
The Organizing Committee named Omar Ahrari, representing the Investigation Team, as the 'Best Goalkeeper', Ahmad Essa as the 'Best Scorer', Juma Darwish, playing for Airport Team 2, as the 'Best Player' and the Naturalization and Personal Status team as the 'Ideal Team'.
The tournament was jointly sponsored by Datel Company, Leader Sport Company, Empost, and Lama Desert Tourism & Cargo L.L.C.
