One of the most catastrophic incidents which happened in 1984 that involved some 4000 fatalities and 300,000 injuries in India, the gas leak near the Hawiyah natural gas plant in Saudi Arabia caused an accidental explosion killing at least 28 people in November 2007 and the recent pipeline explosion in Nairobi that had killed more than 100 people are some of the examples of the many, unfortunate accidents that occur under the hazardous conditions within the oil, gas, chemical and heavy industries. This shows that comprehensive training in process safety is crucial to any organisation.

Commenting on ProSafe, Mr Zainudin Zulkifli, Site Director of BASF Malaysia said "Major hazard incidents which involve the release of hazardous process materials from plants have the potential to kill people and also damage the environment. Unsafe acts or behaviours and systems can result in monies being lost to accidents, disruption to operations, criminal and civil prosecution, loss of market share, and the degradation of company asset and the environment. Therefore, for process industries, a process safety is the lifeblood of their existence and must be continuously monitored and enhanced to strive for inherently safer, low-risk processes."

With this in mind, the Middle East's leading process safety conference is back and this year we will bring more regional and international case studies and best-practices than ever before! This year Marcus Evans' ProSafe conference will bring together regional and international Process Safety, HSE, Technical and Operations Managers to discuss the latest challenges and developments in process safety management, providing unique case studies and the opportunity for industry benchmarking, taking place from 16 - 18 September 2012 in Doha, Qatar.

"With the recent turmoil in the global economy, it is more important than ever for business to protect their assets, both equipment and people.  ProSafe is a forum where industry leaders have the opportunity to share and discuss innovative ways to protect their assets without impacting their bottom line.  In fact, organizations find that the Return on Investment justifies expenditures as a good business decision." added Carl O. Sall, Head of Industrial Safety Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability for Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation.

This conference will feature a half-day workshop on Enhancing your Process Safety Management (PSM) with a Risk Based Approach: Risk Based Process Safety by Dr. Justus Harding, Corporate HSSE Manager of Al Taher Group, Oman.

This conference is sponsored by Sentis, (Platinum Sponsor) and is supported by The Pigging Products and Services Association (PPSA). For more information and registration, please contact Catherine Foo at CatherineF@marcusevanskl.com
