Cityscape - world's largest real estate B2B brand - to return to Mumbai
Cityscape - the world's largest business-to-business real estate brand - is to return to Mumbai this year following the resounding success of the inaugural Cityscape India event.
In total, over 5,000 participants from 38 different countries were in attendance and more then 80 exhibitors showcased their projects and expertise at the inaugural Cityscape India 2007 which took place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in November. Top Indian and international property developers and investors will descend on the same venue for the 2008 event which will take place from 8 - 10 December.
India's real estate market is forecast to be worth $50 billion by 2010 and the inaugural Cityscape India attracted thousands of participants representing a "Who's Who" of the Indian property sector, to the delight of exhibitors.
"Our objective was to interact with the global players in the market," said Anita Kataria, Vice President Sales and Public Relations, of K. Raheja Universal. "We met the right mix and profile of people. Cityscape gave us exposure to the global market and we look forward to participating again."
"Cityscape gave us a platform to market our products other than India," said Gladwyn Fernandes, Marketing Manager of Royal Palms. "Definitely we will be a participant this year."
"To a large extent our objective has been met and there have been responses from various fields," said Rohit Bhasin, Head of Retail for Shipra Hotels. "A whole lot of stakeholders were at the exhibition."
With a population of 1.2 billion, growing annually by 1.4% and economic growth of around 9% a year, demand for both urban residential and commercial space in India is expected to reach 700 million square feet within three years.
"Cityscape India provides an ideal platform to enhance this market growth and highlight unparalleled investment opportunities," said Rohan Marwaha, Managing Director of Cityscape.
Indeed, it was the size of India's market potential that drew an 'A' list of industry professionals to the Cityscape India conference. Donald Trump Jnr delivered the keynote speech and stressed that the key challenge for Indian property developers is to ensure they continue to meet the expectations of high net-worth global investors. Contributions were also made by top industry figures from key organisations including, Raheja Universal, Unitech Group, Shipra Estate and Walton Street Capital.
The first Cityscape India 2007 Real Estate Awards were also inaugurated to honour leading real estate professionals and companies for their outstanding contribution to the industry. City Corporation, for Amanora Park Tower, picked up three awards for Best Real Estate Marketing Campaign, Best Corporate Social Responsibility and Best Developer Mixed-Use (future). Other winners included; Morphogenesis; Shipra World; Sheth Developers; K. Raheja Corp; Unitech; Vascon Engineers; K. Raheja Universal and United Breweries.
Cityscape India is one of several international offshoots of the phenomenally successful Cityscape Dubai, organised by IIR Middle East, including Asia, China and South America. The lead Dubai event recently smashed all previous records with 52,000 investors, property developers, government and development authorities, architects, designers, consultants and industry professionals from more than 120 countries attending.
Cityscape events bring together investors, real estate developers, architects and designers, governments and senior professionals. Next in the worldwide series is Cityscape Asia which takes place from 15 - 17 April 2008 at Suntec, Singapore, highlighting investment opportunities and iconic architecture in a booming region that includes Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan and the surrounding Pacific region as well as Singapore itself.
"Cityscape Asia provides a unique opportunity to influence and network with major investors, developers, key organisations and governments throughout South East Asia," said Marwaha.
