Lifebuoy is a new product that gives 100% better protection from germs

Cairo, June 1st, 2009: In a health symposium, Unilever Mashreq announced the launch of lifebuoy - the leading international disinfectant product- in the Egyptian market for the first time. Lifebuoy is a new anti- bacterial soap available in more than 20 countries and is used by 1.6 billion customers around the world.

Ms. Hossna Rachid- Chairperson of Unilever Mashreq, Mr. Khaled Fayed -Managing Director of Unilever Mashreq and Mr. Iain Potter - VP for Marketing of Unilever NAME in addition to Dr. Abdel Rahman El Sakka- president of medical affairs at the Health Insurance Authority attended the health Symposium.

"Launching Lifebuoy during today's press symposium is considered a medical initiative from Unilever to those seeking true protection from germs and viruses. Such a step copes with the company's policy to meet the raising needs of the Egyptian customers." said Mrs. Hossna Rachid - Chairperson of Unilever Mashreq. She added that Lifebuoy is the number one product worldwide in the field of anti- bacterial soap.

Mrs. Rachid stressed on the fact that launching this product in Egypt at that timing goes back to Unilever's wish to play a vital role in maintaining the public health. The company considers that Lifebuoy is not just a new product that will be added to Unilever's list of leading products in Egypt, however, launching the product is meant to encourage and publicize a different culture to all the social segments of the Egyptian community; a culture based on maintaining a daily personal hygiene program especially in light of the recent statistics showing that 50% of the Egyptians does not care to wash their hands regularly.

Recent researches conducted on selected focus groups of citizens in Greater Cairo confirmed the lack of awareness regarding the importance of regular hand washing more than once daily. The results revealed some worrying figures on the public health resulting from ignoring washing the hands with water and soap regularly.

Protection and health experts confirmed that using Lifebuoy soap at least twice per day protects from the different types of viruses to which the normal citizens are exposed in their daily life. They added that in addition to Lifebuoy's ability to maintain hygiene and vital skin all the time in a gentle way, it also provides better protection that lasts for a long time.
