Doha, Qatar - 10 June, 2009: IGTC-Chubb Fire, the world's leading expert in fire protection, safety and security solutions, has sent two of its staff for intensive training by Honeywell Life Safety Training University in Dubai thereby enabling them to gain National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certification.
The three day course culminated in an exam, at the end of which two certificates were issued by the NFPA and Honeywell. In addition, the successful delegates now have their accreditations personally listed on the NFPA and Honeywell databases.
The main aim behind this course was to explain basic fire behaviour, including flaming vs. smouldering, basic heat and smoke dynamics, and smoke characteristics, differentiate between fire protection and fire detection, identify the components used to create a fire detection and alarm system, explain power supply requirements for fire alarm systems and determine how each component is used in a design, how it is installed and how it is inspected, tested, maintained, and used, in addition to many other information and practices.
Mr. Rami Al-Batrawi, General Manager of IGTC-Chubb Fire in Qatar, explained that the course had been designed for anyone whose job involved designing, reviewing, evaluating or installing fire alarm systems, such as fire marshals, architects, designers, installers, engineers, electrical contractors, technicians and project managers.
"The course covers a plethora of subject areas from the very basics of fire behaviour to the relationship between building codes, fire codes, elevator codes, mechanical codes, NFPA codes & standards, and nationally recognised testing lab standards. And it emphasises the roles and responsibilities of all parties having an interest in the planning, design, approval, installation, testing, maintenance and use of fire alarm systems.
"Our company philosophy is to train all our employees to the very highest standards of expertise and service so that in turn they can service our clients to the highest levels possible; and this is just one more reason why IGTC-Chubb Fire retains its leading position within the industry, not just in Qatar, but across the entire world."
