IFA exhibition will start on the 2nd till the 7th of September as it was announced in the Press Conference held at JW Marriot Hotel in Dubai. The consumer electronics (CE) in its entirety goes on display at the world's largest CE fair the IFA in Berlin.
Mr. Abdulrahman G. Al Mutaiwee director general if Dubai Chamber of Commerce and industry delivered the keynote speech in the press conference and appreciated the initiative of selecting Dubai to announce this important event and promoting it in the region and Middle East. Mr. Al Mutaiwee showcased the importance if Dubai as a leading city in re-exports field and the rapid increase in electronic appliance volume of trade.
Mr. Franz Josef Dicken Deputy Consul Head of mission of the General Consulate of Germany highlighted the role of Consulate general in supporting the business activities pointing to their plan in supporting 24 exhibitions and Fairs this Year 2005. Mr. Dicken exposed the huge volume of trade between Germany and UAE which reached approximately 4 Billion Euro in the last year 2004. 3.5 billion is the volume of the imports.
Mr. Jen Heithecker Director of Messe Berlin press team mentioned the exhibition expanded 10% this year comparing with 2003 also the demand increased 20% in 2003 comparing with year 2000 reaching 2.4 billion Euros, 270,000 visitors in 6 days and 8000 journalist where registered in the press center.
In 2005 the organizers and the executive company will again be applying the concept that has been so successful in the past, with an attractive display uniting the interests of the trade and the public. The IFA 2003 was divided into six sections, with clarity of presentation that was welcomed by the industry and the trade. The subjects that will be setting the trends are already becoming apparent. As in previous years, they will influence future market trends and the shape of the market, as well as creating new markets. With just over six months before the start of the IFA on September 2, the industry's main event of the year is already arousing curiosity and interest. Excitement will be building between now and 2 September when the IFA 2005 opens its doors and the crowds will come in search of some amazing exhibits.
In 2004 the various consumer electronics product groups generated total sales of 19.98 billion euros, representing an increase of approximately 8.3 per cent over the previous year. Of this total entertainment electronics sales amounted to 10.78 billion euros. In 2004 on the German market this branch again accounted for the largest commercial share of the consumer electronics (CE) sector.
The upsurge in electronic appliance sales can be attributed in particular to new digital technology and the associated diversity of new devices and services. These consist mainly of flat screen systems, new storage media such as DVD and hard disk recorders, digital television, both terrestrial and via satellite, MP3 devices, in-car navigation systems and storage media such as recordable DVDs.
