Famous DJ Trio 'SOS' from London to perform in the desert as a part of their world tour
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - HUMMER will certainly live up to its tag line - 'Like Nothing Else' - when it links up with urban-cool DJ alliance SOS to lay on 'SOS at the Desert' on 30th May.
Thousands of HUMMER owners and other dance fans will descend on the Alpha Tours Desert Camp in Dubai, where SOS trio - an urban-cool DJ alliance comprising Londoners Demi, Desyn Masiello and Omid 16B - will perform as part of their world tour. Also present will be the UK's Ministry of Sound and local DJs Star TRaxxx and Ali Ajami.
"'SOS at the Desert' adds even more spice to the fun that HUMMER enthusiasts experience. We are delighted to link up with SOS, and we expect a great turn out considering this is the first time that the trio will perform in the Middle East", said David Venticich, Marketing Director for General Motors Middle East Operations.
Tickets for the event are priced at just AED 250 and include an open food buffet, transportation, fire show, light show and exotic dancers. They are available at www.boxofficeme.com or by calling 055-88744047. Ticket-holders should meet at the parking site at the rear of the Mazaya Centre on Sheikh Zayed from 6pm to 8pm, where transport will be laid on to take people to the desert site.
Sixty privileged HUMMER owners will be provided with free tickets and exclusive access to the HUMMER VVIP tent courtesy of the HUMMER HUB - an outdoor activities club, formed for and managed by HUMMER owners.
While everyone will head towards the venue in busses, all HUMMER owners have the privilege of driving to the party, where an exclusive parking site has been reserved for their vehicles. The HUMMERs cars will feel right at home on the golden sand dunes of the UAE's desert.
HUMMER is an iconic brand with a fan base that continues to grow thanks to its unconventional power and strength, which allows it to go almost anywhere. After lights-out, HUMMER owners who attend the event can enjoy the rest of their night camping, instead of driving back to the city.
2008 HUMMER H3
The HUMMER H3 packs uncompromising HUMMER style and capability into its midsize dimensions. Compared to the H2, the H3 is 429mm shorter in length, 152mm shorter in height and 165mm narrower. Roughly the same length as a midsize family sedan, H3 comfortably navigates city traffic and delivers HUMMER's trademark crawling and climbing capability.
The HUMMER H3 carries over the Vortec 3.7-litre powerplant. This 3.7-litre inline five-cylinder unit offers an excellent combination of power and efficiency, delivering 255 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 367 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm.
2008 HUMMER H2
The iconic HUMMER H2 enters 2008 with a raft of changes, delivering a more refined interior that combines luxury with HUMMER's legendary ruggedness; enhanced safety features and a more powerful engine that is coupled with a new, six-speed automatic transmission. The new powertrain combination improves efficiency when compared with previous models.
The new powertrain combination consists of a 6.2-litre all-aluminum small-block V8 engine, rated at 393 horsepower (net) at 5700 rpm and 563 Nm of torque (net) at 4300 - an increase of about 20 percent over the previous engine - and a Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission. Performance-optimizing engine technologies, such as variable valve timing, and the six-speed's wide gear ratios, including a "tall" overdrive gear, enable the improved performance and efficiency over previous models.

About HUMMER
HUMMER is the youngest brand in General Motors' portfolio, and is the fruit of an agreement between the world's largest automaker and AM General in December 1999. The iconic HUMVEE is the original HUMMER, the cornerstone of the brand. Its core values are still largely maintained in current HUMMER line-up, the most capable line-up of off-road vehicles that don't compromise on luxury.
In the Middle East, HUMMER's line-up consists of the H2 which reflected an evolution of the brand making HUMMER more accessible to a wider civilian audience upon its launch in 2003; the midsize H3 that widened the brand's appeal to a an even broader range of owners.
Three years after its reveal as a concept car at the 2004 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, the production-ready 2009 HUMMER H3T is set to bring its unmistakable style and unmatched capability to the truck market. The H3T is based on the architecture of the popular H3, but features a five-passenger crew cab and a separate 1.5 meter bed. It also is infused with the attributes expected of a HUMMER, including exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable.
At the 2008 North American International Autoshow, HUMMER revealed the HX concept; its vision of an agile, trail-ready, open-air vehicle that fits the lifestyles of everyone who needs or wants to drive off road, in style.
