Will supply optical transport technology for Telecom Italia's Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) optical metropolitan network
Dubai, UAE - January 30, 2007 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has been selected by Telecom Italia to carry out Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology projects.
The first Chinese telecommunication equipment supplier selected for an Italian telecom programme, Huawei was awarded the contract to supply optical transport technology after a stringent evaluation process by Telecom Italia. Huawei has also successfully collaborated with European mainstream operators including British Telecom, where Huawei is a preferred vendor in the transport and MSAN domain for its 21CN program; and with Dutch operator, KPN, for a CWDM/DWDM project.
