Doha - Qatar, 16 January 2010 - On Thursday, January 14th, 2010 Qatargas held a special Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) day with a theme "Hand in Hand - Onwards to a safe start-up" for the 30,000 workers on the Qatargas 3 and Qatargas 4 liquefied natural gas expansion projects at Ras Laffan.
Keeping with the projects' goal of being "Incident and Injury Free", the HSE day combined interactive and entertaining demonstrations, games and displays highlighting the importance of safe working habits.
"We're very happy that this year we had representatives from the Turkish, Filipino and Indian embassies join us to help drive home the message of working safely, as many of our people come from these countries" said Robert Flesher, Chief Operating Officer of Joint Asset Development Team for Qataragas 3&4. "It's a great honour to have them visit us and speak to our people about how important it is that they go home safely to their families, friends and country."
Crescente R. Relacion, Ambassador of the Phillippines, E. Derya Kara, Third Secretary from the Turkish embassy, attended, along with Second Secretary M R Qureshi from the Indian embassy.
Main contractor CTJV and sub-contractors Gama, NSH and CCIC all took part in the activities on the day and have done a great deal in ensuring its success.
"We couldn't hold an event like this without the full support of the contractors," says Flesher, "They're absolutely dedicated to the idea of 'Everyone goes home safe Every Day'."
