27 May 2003

The Vice Chairman of HSBC Bank Middle East, Abdul Jalil Yousef Darwish, formally opened HSBC’s second “instore” Customer Service Centre in Dubai on 27 May.  The Centre is located in Spinneys supermarket located at the Mercato shopping mall in Jumeirah, Dubai. The first Centre was opened last year in Spinneys supermarket on Trade Centre Road in Dubai.

Customers visiting the Centres are able to submit applications to open accounts and apply for loans, credit cards, and chequebooks. Cash deposits and withdrawals will continue to be available 24 hours a day at HSBC ATMs co-located with the Centres and elsewhere in the UAE.

“HSBC’s Customer Service Centre offers maximum convenience backed by experienced staff,” said Abdul Jalil Yousuf Darwish.   “Our new approach, which has proved successful in Jordan and Oman in the Middle East and in many other parts of the Group, is appealing to customers who find it most convenient to combine their banking with their daily shopping. They can take advantage of our extra banking hours in the Customer Service Centres to discuss their financial needs including loans, insurance and investments in a relaxed and friendly environment.  HSBC plans to open additional Centres in the near future.”

The Customer Service Centres are open between 8am and 10pm, 7 days a week.
