New large format printer doubles the print speed, and meets varying needs of technical and design professionals

DUBAI, UAE, December 15, 2004 - HP has announced the launch of the radical HP DesignJet 4000 Printer series for the Middle East region, simultaneously extending their portfolio of office and technical printers. The new models double the print speed of both colour and B/W printing and is considered an ideal tool for line drawings, graphics, maps, renderings, and presentations.

Ernest Azzam, Business Development Manager, LFP Imaging and Printing Group HP Middle East said that this dramatic entry to the region's printer market signified a new era in technology. ""The HP Designjet 4000 is a technological breakthrough in speed, colour and printer management.  HP understand the needs of various technical markets and our new printer is tailored to meet the varying needs of these users. Professionals working in architecture, engineering, construction, MCAD and GIS markets can now look forward to accurate lines, professional image quality and fast unattended printing.

"The amazing technology incorporated within this printer doubles the print speeds of both colour and monochrome documents, when compared with current HP large format printers.  The new printer delivers fast print outs in A1/D size in as little as 25 seconds and can complete a print job of 100 A1/D formats within one hour," he stated. Azzam was speaking at the launch event held at the new HP Tech Center in Dubai Knowledge Village, attended by several professionals from technical and design related industries.

Azzam explained that the HP Double Swath technology doubles the number of print head nozzles by placing them in a staggered formation. This staggering in turn allows the printer to extend the actual print path, resulting in a faster print output making the printer ideal for users with demanding  deadlines and peak workloads.

"As a result of enhancements to the writing system and HP professional colour technologies, the HP Designjet 4000 Printer series also offers high quality printouts with predictable colours.  The printer provides a high resolution up to 2400 dpi and up to +/- 0.1 percent line accuracy.  This is perfect for users who need precise designs, plans and line drawings," he added.

Among numerous other advantages, The HP Designjet 4000 Printer series offers lowered running cost and easy remote print management capabilities.  The faster processing speed significantly improves performance and also eliminates waiting time, and further, users with time limits can use the remote job preview and printer status and alerts to attain a totally unattended printing.
