HP Planet Partners program will encourage greater environmental awareness and improve sustainability
DUBAI 22 December 2011 - HP Middle East announced that it's collaborating with the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) E-Government Authority to launch the HP Planet Partners program, which is expected to improve sustainability and recycling in the emirate.
The environmental program, which has seen more than 389 million HP print cartridges recycled worldwide since its inception in 1991, offers free return and recycling services for Original HP printing supplies. The program, introduced in the UAE in 2009, ensures that no printer cartridges returned through HP Planet Partners ends up in landfill.
"The Ras Al Khaimah E-Government Authority has always been at the forefront with initiatives that help save the environment by re-using and recycling," said Eng Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Sayyah, General Manager, E-Government Authority, Ras Al Khaimah.
Eng Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Sayyah said that the Ras Al Khaimah E-Government Authority, which oversees the use of thousands of printers throughout the various RAK government departments and ministries, has become the first government department in the emirate to cooperate with HP Middle East in this important environmental program. The government plans on using HP Planet Partners services immediately.
"We are very pleased to join hands with the Ras Al Khaimah E-Government Authority to encourage recycling and sustainability in the emirate," said Amin Mortazavi, General Manager, Imaging and Printing Group, HP Middle East. "Since the HP Planet Partners Program was established, we've already recycled over two billion pounds of IT equipment and print cartridges, as part of our constant endeavour to help customers recycle responsibly."
The HP Planet Partners program is available worldwide in more than 50 countries, including 35 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Find more information about the HP Planet Partners program online at: www.hp.com/recycle.
