A group of some 60 students won the opportunity to meet the world-renowned Honda robot, ASIMO, and see it perform at the Trading Enterprises - Honda showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road at an ASIMO-themed art competition.

ASIMO stands for Advanced Step in Innovative MObility - advanced mobility for a new era. ASIMO also means combining technology and fun, which is exactly what the robot set out to achieve on its first trip to the Middle East. After displaying its capabilities to crowds at the 8th Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai, the world's most advanced humanoid robot met with the young winners of the ASIMO-themed art competition. During the competition the children had the opportunity of letting their imaginations run wild as they drew pictures of ASIMO carrying out an activity in Dubai.

Students from three schools participated in the competition, from Grade 3 to Grade 8, including children from Dubai Festival City's newly opened Universal American School and Deira International School, as well as the Modern High School. The winning students, who were accompanied by their parents and class teachers, also had their artistic creations displayed at Trading Enterprises, a member of the Al-Futtaim Group, the leading business conglomerate in the UAE.

Following the competition, ASIMO put on a special performance for the winning students, met them, and had photographs taken with them. The students were given goodie bags and took home the thrilling experience of having been in touch with future technology through ASIMO.

"ASIMO's childlike appearance and qualities make it universally appealing, so children are especially fond of the robot," said Guy Edmunds, Sales & Marketing Manager, Al-Futtaim Trading Enterprises - Honda. "Trading Enterprises is delighted to have given young children in the UAE the chance to interact with this highly advanced robot and to get an amazing glimpse of the future," he said.
