Yalumba Continues to Scoop Major Awards
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - With its contemporary take on South East Asian and European cuisine,
Yalumba, Le Meridien Dubai's modern Australian restaurant, has been continually recognised for excellence since it opened in the summer of 2005.
The restaurant secured the 'Best New-Comer' accolade at the annual What's On awards ceremony recently, having already been highly commended at the Time out awards for its Friday brunch.
"Yalumba combines hearty food with live entertainment in comfortable surroundings and it has therefore become a firm favourite on the popular Friday brunch circuit," said Chef Ivan.
"As a relatively novel addition to Dubai's evolving restaurant scene, I am very proud that Australian cuisine has been recognized at these prestigious ceremonies," he added.
Using traditional ingredients from his homeland, Chef Ivan's food has become synonymous with his own sense of adventure. Some of the restaurant's innovative dishes include 'Chilli Crab Falafel', seared scallops and 'Roquefort Panna Cotta'.
"Australian gastronomy is both modern and energetic, and, with its genuinely cosmopolitan edge, Yalumba's menu is designed to cater to Dubai's multi-ethnic society," he added.
On June 24, the first in a new series of long table dinners is being hosted at the restaurant. These regional dinners showcase the very best of food and wine from each respective state in Australia. This month's theme is the 'Best of the West', and will feature Western Australian favorites including Manjimup marron, Abroholos lsland scallops, Ord river Barramundi and the special organic goats cheese from Gabrielle Kervella in Gidgegannup, matched with a superb selection of wine.
"I am very excited about the monthly gourmet dinners at Yalumba," said Chef Ivan.
"They provide us with the opportunity to cater for people who are really serious about fine food and wine, allowing me and my team to showcase the very best that Australia has to offer to Dubai's connoisseurs on a regular basis," he concluded.
The 'Best of the West' long table dinner on June 24 will begin at 8 pm.
