April 12, Dubai-April's edition of 'Inside the Middle East' comes from Egypt as CNN's Hala Gorani travels to the capital city of Cairo to host the monthly show. The half-hour programme examines the situation in Lebanon one year after the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri; meets an innovative Egyptian entrepreneur and catches up with the latest craze emerging from the region - a Hasidic hip hop artist.
CNN's Brent Sadler travels to Paris to meet May Chidiac at the hospital where she is being treated after the horrific assassination attempt on her life in September last year. Chiddiac, a news anchor on Lebanon's LBC, has been considered a reliable presence both on Lebanese television and abroad for the past 20 years but after hosting a programme discussing Syria's involvement in Rafik Hariri's death, Chidiac was the victim of a car bomb attack where she lost her left leg and arm. The attack was one of many in the last year that have killed or wounded journalists, politicians and members of the Lebanese public. Sadler spends time with Chidiac in hospital and finds out about the progress she is making as she learns how to walk again and about her plans to return home to Beirut.
Next on the show is Fadhi Ghandour, co-founder and CEO of Aramex, the first home-grown courier service in the Arab world and the first Middle Eastern company listed on the NASDAQ. CNN's Schams Elwazer spends time with Fadhi, one of a new generation of entrepreneurs starting up knowledge based businesses in the Middle East.
Finally CNN explores the reggae-hip-hop phenomenon that is storming concert venues. CNN's Jerusalem correspondent, John Vause, meets Matisyahu, a religious rapper. John Vause looks back on his journey from Babylon to Billboard magazine.
Inside the Middle East airs on Thursday 13 April at 930 am ET and 130 pm ET
