Gulf Finance Corporation, a leading provider of finance to SME and micro businesses,has launched the first SME Community event in Dubai. The SME Community event series is an initiative by Gulf Finance designed to boost SME growth by offering small businesses access to a community of established experts and consultants that understand their particular needs. The first session of the event was supported by Nuummite Consulting, a business consultancy offering services and advice to UAE-based SMEs.
"Although Gulf Finance is a lending company our customers often approach us and ask for our assistance and input in other areas of their businesses such as how to develop a growth strategy or conduct a valuation or a feasibility study," explained David Hunt, CEO of Gulf Finance. "By hosting regular SME Community events we want to connect our customer base with a range of expert service providers that can assist businesses with their growth strategies. As Gulf Finance is also an SME, we understand the requirements of small businesses and hope that this platform will evolve into a 'one stop shop' for our customers'needs going forward."
The event was attended by over 80 SMEs from across the UAE, including Vasan Eye Care, Big Sea Trading and Golden Falcon, and featured interactive workshop sessions on trade finance facilities and financial reporting procedures. Gulf Finance's SME Community events will be held on a regular basis going forward.
Mr. Lenny Jonas, Director of Sun Star Building Materials Dubai, attended the event and commented: "The idea of an SME Community appeals to me because as a small business owner, I prefer to deal with other SMEs who have a better understanding of the challenges and obstacles I face in the daily running of my business.Establishing a support network consisting of and intended for SMEs will be beneficial for the sector as a whole."
