Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company added yet another achievement to its record in 2004 following its success in loading a 40,000 shipment of urea granules on board the giant carrier "MV Bunga Melor Empat".  The shipment was exported on 31st December, 2004 to one of the Company's customers from the GPIC urea shipping terminal in Sitra.  This is the biggest shipment ever to be exported to Australia since the Company was awarded AQIS Certificate of the first degree from the Australian government due to the high quality of its systems and the safety of its export product.

On this occasion, Mr. Abdul Rahman Jawahery, GPIC General Manager expressed his thanks and appreciation to HE Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil and GPIC Board Chairman and to the Board members for their support and wise directives to the Company.  He also thanked Saudi Basic Industries Company (SABIC) and Petrochemical Industries Company of Kuwait for their continuous support for the Company and their contributions toward marketing the Company's products worldwide.  He also thanked all the Company's employees for their efforts that made such achievement possible.  He expressed the hope for further success and achievements during 2005.

GPIC is the first urea producer to be awarded this distinguished status from the Australian government that gives its facilities in the unloading of shipments upon their arrival in Australia which is very advantageous.  The Australian market is of very important for urea manufacturers since it is one of the biggest urea importing countries with imports of around 1.3 million metric tons annually.  GPIC has some 30% share of total Australian urea imports.
