Al Ghubra Power & Desalination Company - part of Nama Group - has achieved a record of 5 million safe man hoursduring 1884 working days, which will be added to the company's HSE records. This accomplishment happened at the end of the second quarter of this year with support and commitment from both the company and staff which celebrateteamwork in a very successful way.

Regarding this event, Yaqoob Al Rabaani- HSSE manager at GPDCO, said; "first of all, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all employees at the company for their commitment to the principles of HSE and the company'slaws while performing their work. I wouldalso like to thank the company's Board of Directors and the departments directors for theircontinues follow-up, support and participation in this achievement, which is considered the best ever in the company's history. I am certainly feelingrelievedforhaving a work environment free from LTI which makes employees more efficient at their workin an LTI free work environment."

Al Rabani added; "achieving this record provides support for the company's HSE team and motivation for achieving GPDCO's goal of a safe work environmentfor employees and contractors. This achievement is a result of teamwork and the company pays serious attention to HSE through providinga specialized and qualified team and through organizing training courses for all employees. As well as, focusing on the employees, who work in the plant and whom their work environment requires knowledge of all dangers surrounding them, teaching them how to deal with incidents and how to use the equipment's properly.

It is worth mentioning that GPDCO obliges all contractors before starting any project inside the plant to abide by the company's HSE principles for protecting employees and providing a suitable working environment which helps in carrying out the work without any delays. The company has recently won the OHSAS 18001: 2007 certificate in applying health and safety standards in the work environment and it is considered one of the first companieswho win this certificate on the level of electricity sector.
