V-KOOL, the world’s largest franchisor and installer of protective films, has urged UAE residents to avail of the recent government decision to allow tinting of car windows, and its accompanying advantages. Announcing enhanced sales at their Dubai and Abu Dhabi offices, the company has listed several health and material advantages to customers.

Speaking about the recent government decision to allow tinting on car windows for expatriates, Dave Lawson, General Manager of V-KOOL Emirates, elaborated on the incredible growth of protective film technology around the world, with particular reference to its impact in the UAE. Praising the various police authorities and ministries of the UAE for making this opportunity available to all residents, he said that there were many advantages to be had by the practical application of this technology in everyday life.

"What dictates the success of protection film is not merely technology, but the application of it in everyday life," he said, citing the example of V-KOOL, best known as one of the top 100 inventions of the millennium and used in protecting car, home and office windows. "V-KOOL is a company that believes in applying science to everyday life," he stated, adding that their products are sold through over 200 outlets in 50 countries and used by over 7.4 million customers around the world. Elaborating, Lawson drew parallels between the Stealth Bomber and cars and homes in the UAE. "It is true that V-KOOL infra-red technology is used in the manufacture of Stealth Bombers, but it is the very same technology that every resident of the UAE can avail of."

Speaking about the emerging advantages of infra-red and UV protection technology, Lawson said that while it was once used merely to protect cars from glaring heat, it is now considered important in various other ways: "V-KOOL reduces infra red rays by a staggering 94 per cent and provides occupants with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 200+. "This protects users not only from the heat but also against harmful skin cancer rays, and further, prevents the fading and degradation of carpets, curtains and upholstery."

"In the UAE, with its extreme temperatures, protection film technology plays a pivotal role in the well being and material interests of all residents. We have recorded a significant increase in customers at our fitment centres at Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Quoz, Dubai and Abu Dhabi since the announcement, but we would like to educate all residents on the advantages," he said. Lawson advocates solar heat control for UAE residents, both in cars – in line with the 30 per cent tinting regulation – and in homes and offices, on windows exposed to harsh sunlight. “You have a role to play in protecting your health, your assets and your investments, and that is of applying technology wisely," he advised. He also reiterated that customers should be mindful of the standards of installation and the product’s warranty backing: "World trends indicate the death of the old conventional style films which bubble, peel, crack and discolour. Scientists have created the V-KOOL technology to provide practically clear film, so that windows can be coated to cut out solar heat without being ’tinted’," he stated.
