Global Investment House (Global) announced today the appointment of Mr. Fouad Fahmi Darwish in the capacity of Senior Vice President to head the Brokerage business in the Gulf region.
Mr. Bader Al-Sumait, Chief Executive Officer of Global said, "We are pleased to welcome Mr. Darwish to the Global team. We are confident that his experience will contribute to the on-going development of the company's brokerage business. Mr. Darwish's appointment reflects our commitment to offer added-value service to our clients in Kuwait and the MENA region."
Mr. Darwish in turn expressed his pleasure in joining the company and stated that he will focus on enhancing and updating the existing brokerage services at Global.
Mr. Darwish has extensive experience in the stock markets. Prior to joining Global, Mr. Darwish was the Head of Institutional Sales and Customer Services in Abu Dhabi Financial Services Company, the brokerage arm of National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD). He was in charge of setting up the Institutional Sales and brokerage desks in addition to overseeing the entire customer services team across the UAE. He was also an active member of the Executive Committee.
Prior to that, Mr. Darwish was employed by the Central Bank of the UAE where he gained significant knowledge of the local banking sector in his capacity as an examiner in the Banking Supervision and Examination Department. He also played a significant role in liaising between Central Bank and International bodies such as the IMF and EUCB etc..
Mr. Darwish has participated in several international seminars and conferences launched by the Central Bank of the UAE and later, at NBAD. He is a regular panelist in regional leading conferences/seminars on key topics related to the capital markets including regulations, introduction of new products such as Derivatives and Securities B&L. His professional career started in Canada, where Mr. Darwish was the Senior Mutual Fund Dealer at ING Bank of Canada and was part of a sophisticated team of brokers overseeing the cross-country sales of ING's funds in Canada. Mr. Darwish holds an Honors BA with a specialist degree in Economics from the renowned University of Toronto and a MBA from the American university in Dubai.
