OITE Trade Fairs formally confirmed the dates for Oman's leading event for higher education- GHEDEX at a press conference held today at the Ministry of Higher Education. Senior representatives from OITE including Mr. Tarek Ali-General Manager-Exhibitions and a number of officials from both sides and media representatives attended the event.
GHEDEX 2015, organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education, will take place at the Oman International Exhibition Centre from 20th -22nd April 2015 from 9:30am-1:00pm & 4:30pm-9:00pm.
"Over 200 universities from 23 countries will present the latest higher education programmes at GHEDEX. Out of these 170 educational bodies and institutions account for international participation, while 30 account for local participation. This year GHEDEX receives strong presence of institutions from Oman, Ireland, UK & US. We are also pleased to announce that Brunei, Finland, Lithuania and Pakistan are exhibiting at GHEDEX for the first time" says Mr. Tarek Ali, General Manager, Trade Fairs, OITE.
Participating countries at GHEDEX include Sultanate of Oman, Australia, Austria, Brunei, Canada, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Jordan, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Pakistan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States of America.
Mr. Ashit Barnes, Exhibition Director, OITE Trade Fairs added that a new feature is being introduced at GHEDEX this year namely a GHEDEX Career Guidance Centre powered by The Talent Enterprise. The Talent Enterprise will be presenting The Youth Thriving Index™ (YTI), a career guidance psychometric assessment to assess a student's strengths and work orientations.
"This unique assessment is the first and only psychometric tool to be created and validated in the GCC with Omani norms and will be available to students at GHEDEX in English. The Youth Thriving Index is being offered at GHEDEX at a one - off nominal price. The assessment will be made available to students at RO 5 if students pre-register, which will enable students to get a career guidance session free of charge. If students do not pre-register, they also have the option of on the spot registration at the GHEDEX Career Guidance Centre from 20th - 22nd April at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, although they may have to wait for their career guidance session as those who pre-register will have priority" confirmed Mr. Barnes.
OITE is also pleased to announce the GHEDEX Conference, taking place for the first time ever from 20th -21st April 2015 under the theme 'Entrepreneurship and Higher Education'. The Conference, which will be held alongside the GHEDEX Exhibition, aims to empower educators with updates in learning and teaching methodologies that will enable them to stimulate entrepreneurship amongst their students.
Seminar sessions held at GHEDEX on all 3 days at the Centre will add further value to the event. "Besides giving students the choice to select from among attractive careers from leading colleges and universities from around the globe, these sessions will give attendees insight on important facets related to higher education which is what GHEDEX is all about. These informative sessions are free of charge, so students visiting GHEDEX are encouraged to attend them to gain insight on various, programmes, procedures, courses and choices being offered by various institutions" says Mr. Anees Khan, Sales Manager, OITE Trade Fairs.
