The Management Development Programme for the Energy Industry is part of an ongoing strategy to address the educational and developmental needs of Finance professionals in the Qatari and GCC energy sector
The fourth module of the Management Development Programme rolled out successfully last week at the Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) in Doha.
A joint initiative of QFBA and PwC Qatar, this innovative programme is specifically directed at high potential managers who are looking to develop into future financial leaders within the Oil and Gas sector of Qatar and the region. Composed of five non-consecutive one-week sessions spread over 25 weeks, the programme commenced in January and covers a wide variety of topics including Oil and Gas Supply Chain, Management and Logistics, Corporate Finance, Risk Management, Tax and Governance, Ethics and Compliance and is delivered by senior management consultants and internationally acclaimed professors. Guest speakers share their significant experiences with programme participants - these included CFOs, Financial Controllers and operational management from QP, Shell, QatarGas and Maersk Oil. The participants on the inaugural Management Development Programme come from Qatar Petroleum, Shell and Maersk Oil.
Last week, Niels Soepnel and Johan Jacobs of QatarGas lead the class on one of the highlights of the week: an exciting trip to see QatarGas's refining operations in Ras Laffan where they saw all of Qatar's LNG trains and saw many other exciting developments in progress in the city.
Chris Box, Advisory Partner at PwC, said, "PwC is committed to supporting Qatar with its strategy of enhancing the skills and capabilities of its people, per the 2030 National Vision. In partnering with QFBA, we provide the energy industry with a Management Development Programme that addresses and increases the skills of the finance professionals. This site visit is an essential educational part of the programme where participants had the opportunity to visit and understand Ras Laffan's state of the art production facilities.
