28 April 2014
Friends Provident International has launched a new Decreasing Term Assurance (DTA), which is available as part of the multi-award-winning International Protector Middle East protection plan.

DTA will complement the broad range of coverage offered by the existing plan, which includes life, critical illness, life or earlier critical illness and total and permanent disability benefit; and is a cost effective solution for customers that have a protection requirement that will reduce over time, for example a mortgage.

Matthew Waterfield, Friends Provident International's General Manager, Middle East and Africa said:-

"In response to demand from our distribution partners, we are pleased to introduce DTA as an option under the hugely successful International Protector Middle East protection plan.

With the currently buoyant housing market in the UAE, the introduction of  DTA is very timely. The vast majority of banks in the region require their mortgage customers to have life and or critical illness insurance in place as a condition of the loan and DTA is an extremely cost effective way of meeting this requirement."

With a DTA plan, the sum insured reduces in line with the balance outstanding on a mortgage or loan, and is designed to clear the balance if the customer falls seriously ill or dies before the amount borrowed is fully repaid - provided no changes are made to the terms of the loan after the policy is taken out. This means that customers only pay for the cover they need.

International Protector Middle East is available exclusively through financial advisers holding terms of business with Friends Provident International and its bank distribution partners.

Matthew Waterfield commented:-

"We are proud that International Protector Middle East is consistently recognised as one of the best protection products available across the life insurance industry in the Middle East, and delighted to be able to strengthen the product even further with the addition of DTA."
