du adds 'du Ryder' to winner's life in anniversary promotion

Dubai, 12 March 2008: Little did Shyam Kumar, an Indian expat who arrived in the UAE just six months ago know he was setting himself up to win the one of its kind, exclusively custom built Ford Mustang du Ryder, when he opted for du as his telecom operator on his arrival in the UAE.

The 28 year old who came to Abu Dhabi to join one of the leading multi national banks, was automatically entered into the anniversary promotion run by du from December 2007 by virtue of being an active du mobile customer. Kumar's name was picked from the 32,038,502 entries received in the du Ryder promotion that ended on 15 February, at the Grand Draw on 25 February, held at a event filled evening at the Global Village.

"At first I did not take the calls from du informing me that I had won the car very seriously," said the happy Kumar. "My friends and I had been pulling pranks on each other during DSF, trying to trick the others into believing they had won one of the DSF raffle cars and I thought this was another such call! On the third call from the Director of PR at du however, I realized it was not a hoax and could not believe my good fortune."

"I chose du because of the per second billing and lower rates to call home, which you tend to do a lot of when you have just moved to another country," Kumar explained. "I did not in my wildest dreams expect to gain so much more than just savings on my phone bills!"

Custom built by international experts West Coast Customs, this state-of-the-art car was further enriched by partnering with leading IT giants, adding next generation technologies including a wireless hotspot, instant wireless connection, web access and TV streaming systems that allows access to satellite TV programming such as Showtime. Additionally, the du Ryder has been fitted with an 80GB hard-drive, a sophisticated seven inch touch screen, DVD player/burner, Bluetooth connectivity, two USB ports, 24 inch Dell monitor, built-in USAmp audio, two 12 inch subwoofers, and a DriveSoft vehicle compatible multimedia player.

Subscribers logging the highest points during the period from 5 December 2007 until 15 February 2008 were automatically entered into the draw to win the du Ryder.
