Thousands of Visitors from Across the Region to Enjoy Maritime Feast, Live Music and Fantastic Prize Draws
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Final preparations are underway for the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS), which takes place this month at the Dubai International Marine Club, with an estimated crowd of more than 25,000 visitors expected to visit from across the region.
Organisers, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), are arranging a wide selection of family-friendly attractions at the event, which runs from 13 - 17 March.
In addition to the luxury yachts, power and sailing boats on display, there will also be a wide range of personal watercraft including wakeboards, windsurfers and dinghies highlighting the growing demand for these types of vessels in the Middle East.
As well as viewing the state-of-the-art personal watercraft on display at the show, visitors will have the opportunity to win a brand new Yamaha SuperJet WaveRunner and a Laser Pico dinghy, both of which retail at more than US$6,500.
"Every year the Boat Show increases in size and attractions on offer, and 2007 will be no exception, with more than 720 exhibitors taking part and 140 boats on the water," said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, DWTC, organiser of DIBS 2007.
Visitors this year will also have the chance to win many fantastic prizes including the Yamaha WaveRunner and Laser dinghy.
The 700cc, two-cylinder, Yamaha SuperJet WaveRunner is one of its most successful models of personal watercraft, offering freestyle and sports capabilities which are ideal for the calm waters of the Arabian Gulf.
The SuperJet also has a 144 mm hyper-flow jet pump propulsion system with a three-blade aluminium progressive-pitch impeller which is designed to maximize water flow for high performance.
Another popular competition will give visitors the chance of winning a brand new Laser Pico dingy. Renowned for being "the biggest small boat around," the Pico offers a reefing mainsail, jib, and a high boom which ensures plenty of space for the helmsman and crew.
Amongst the many dinghy sailing boats on display will be the new Laser Bahia, a 4.6 metre day sailing boat and can be sailed, rowed or motored.
In addition to its cruising capabilities, the Bahia is a perfect racing boat with its quick and convenient self-furling jib, single line reefing for the mainsail and "gennaker" with a single line hoist and drop system.
The Dive Middle East Exhibition (DMEX) 2007 will also take place alongside DIBS 2007, with a diving demonstration platform and a floating exhibition area to enthral visitors.
Visitors can see Dubai ladies' free-diving champion, Sara Lise-Haith in action, with guidance and advice from experienced free-diving instructor Emma Farrel.
Other exciting events will include demonstrations in underwater wireless communication and introduction to PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) scuba diving.
Complimenting the wide array of boats and equipment, there will also be live entertainment in the jazz area including food and beverage outlets.
"The Dubai International Boat Show really is one of the most enjoyable events of the year because it offers so many exciting attractions, all in this wonderful setting," concluded Al Marri.
The show will take place from 13 - 17 March 2007 at the Dubai International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi. Visitor registration for the Dubai International Boat Show is available at www.boatshowdubai.com.
