Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has welcomed 15 Omani nationals to its technical engineering development program as part of a recently launched recruitment drive in Oman.
Etihad Airways' engineering program, in partnership with Al Ain International Aviation Academy, offers trainees the opportunity to obtain a B1(Engineering License in Airframe and Engines) or B2 (Avionics) license in Aviation Engineering Technology. The program is accredited by both the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
Ray Gammell, Chief People and Performance Officer, said: "The Omani workforce is renowned for its skills and knowledge levels and we are delighted to offer eligible Omani nationals the opportunity to join Etihad Airways. We are confident that this first batch of Omani engineering trainees will bring a high level of talent and expertise to the team."
The program starts with a brief introduction to Etihad Airways and the aviation industry after which trainees embark on a study in several disciplines including mathematics, physics as well as advanced aerodynamics and aviation legislation. On-the-job training (OJT) is also part of the program.
Nasra Ali Alawfi, one of the new trainees, said: "It has always been my desire to join a company as outstanding as Etihad Airways. It exemplifies the vibrant ambition of the new Middle East and is a pride to its people. It is a company that attaches primary importance not only to its customers but also to its staff and this will surely motivate me to succeed."
Once qualified, the trainees will become part of Etihad's technical division at the airline's dedicated aircraft line maintenance facility at the Abu Dhabi airport.
The aircraft line maintenance facility is equipped with the latest IT technology and equipment which is used for all day-to-day technical line maintenance on Etihad Airways aircraft including hydraulic, structural and instrument checks.
Etihad Airways' recruitment drive in Oman aims to hire 400 Omani nationals by the end of 2012 in positions that span the spectrum of the airline's operations. Prospective Omani job seekers interested in applying are encouraged to visit www.careers.etihadairways.com for application details.
