Dubai Autodrome to play host to top of the range sports cars in action packed 500km championship

United Arab Emirates, 2nd March 2004 - Today sees the dramatic announcement of the LG Super Racing Weekend to be held at Dubai Autodrome. An exciting combination of varied motorsports competition includes the FIA GT Championship, FIA European Touring Car and Formula Renault V6 Eurocup. The three-day racing calendar will provide Middle East race fans with some legendary names with stars from Formula One and Formula 3000, such as Alessandro Zanardi, Gabriele Tarquni, Jorg Muller, Rickard Rydell and Jan Magnussen. The championship weekend commences on October 6th 2004 with two ninety-minute practice sessions on day one, day two sees the qualifying sessions, and the championship culminates in the white-hot atmosphere of race day on October 8th 2004.

Dubai submits its very own race team in the form of the new Aston Martin DB9, pitting themselves against the finest names such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Chrysler Viper to name but a few in the FIA GT Championship. The FIA European Touring Car Championship sees the fast and furious back to back sprint races featuring Alfa Romeo, BMW, SEAT, Honda, Peugeot and Ford. The final stepping-stone before Formula One is provided in the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup in this thrilling single seater competition. Three major championships, providing the very best in motorsport competition for all race fans.

The LG super racing weekend will feature top of the range sports cars specially adapted for the racetrack competing in three hour, five hundred km races with all the thrills of pit stops , driver changeovers and close up on track action. The LG Super Racing Weekend series now enters its fourth successful year, and with Dubai Autodrome firmly placed on its 2004 grid, this will surely add to the continued growth of a truly international event..

The Dubai Autodrome will also feature indoor and outdoor go karting tracks, an off road driving course and a driver handling centre, which will be specifically for advanced driver training. The Business Park, which is an integral part of the Autodrome, will have a selection of specifically designed warehouses to cater for the motor sports industry. The Retail showrooms will also cater for national and international companies in the industry, in addition to a grandstand with stunning food and beverage outlets and full corporate hospitality facilities.
