Dr. Eyad Masad, vice dean and professor of mechanical engineering at Texas A&M University at Qatar, has been appointed holder of the Zachry Professor in Design and Construction Integration II.
Dr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering at Texas A&M University, made the appointment based on Masad'sexceptional record as a researcher and educator. Masad also has a joint appointment at the main campus as a professor in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering. Professorships help give universities a competitive edge by providing funds to attract and support top faculty.

As vice dean at Texas A&M at Qatar, Masad provides oversight ofacademic programs, research and operations. Masad was previously assistant dean for research and graduate studies. He has established and organized several research and community service programs at Texas A&M at Qatar in collaboration with the industry and other academic institutions.
Masad's research focuses on microstructure characterization and constitutive modeling of materials; transport in porous media; granular mechanics; and image analysis techniques. He has active research groups and programs in the United States and in Qatar.He has published more than 300 technical papers and reports. Masad is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and currently serves as associate editor of two major engineering journals.Through the years, Masad has received several prestigious academic and professional awards in recognition of his professional, academic, research and administrative contributions.
