DUBAI – Expo 2020 Dubai’s iconic Al Wasl Plaza played host to talented UAE students, performing as part of Expo School Programme’s Young Stars, on Wednesday, less than a day after international superstars Coldplay rocked the same stage.
The world’s largest 360-degree projection dome, Al Wasl has played host to a arrange of superstar peformers, including Andrea Bocelli, Alicia Keys and the Black Eyes Peas, but today (16 February) the stage was set for the Expo Young stars.
Part of the Expo School Programme, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Emirates Foundation, Hira School, Ras Al Khaimah, was chosen to represent the UAE’s heritage and showcase students’ talents to the world.
Asmaa Yousef Al-Nuaimi, mother of student Amna Al-Ali, said: “I am very proud of my daughter for participating in Expo’s Young Stars programme. The students’ training was intense in recent days and today we have seen that all this hard work has been rewarded with a highly successful performance at the heart of Expo.”
Suhaila Khomais, mother of student Mira Faisal El Naqbi, added: “It has been incredibly exciting to see my daughter present a segment for the first time at Expo’s Al Wasl Plaza for the whole world to see – it’s an indescribable feeling.”
Wednesday’s show, which included song, dance and word performances, included 60 female students, who trained for six months.
Every morning of the academic calendar, students from schools across the UAE perform at Al Wasl Plaza, presenting unique interpretive performances that celebrate the vision of Expo 2020 Dubai as part of Expo School Programme’s Young Stars.
Al Wasl Plaza is where Expo 2020 Dubai welcomes the world and where a huge number of varied cultural activities and entertainment takes place. With many of the 192 participating countries hosting their Expo National Day events at Al Wasl Plaza, the heart of Expo 2020 Dubai has attracted world leaders, dignitaries and international visitors.
