Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 2 September 2009 (ME NewsWire): The Executive Committee, chaired by His Highness Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, approved during its meeting held today, Wednesday September 2nd, 2009, the memorandum presented by the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police regarding awarding the Security Research and Studies Center, which is deemed part of a strategy to support police operations that enhance the efficiency of Abu Dhabi Police in fulfilling tasks and responsibilities.

The committee also approved the memorandum of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority regarding the extension of a 220KV station that supplies the Emirates Iron and Steel Factory. The importance of this project lies in its role in meeting the increasing demand, resulting from opening the largest steel and iron industrial park in the country, namely in Abu Dhabi.

In addition, the committee approved two memoranda by the Department of Municipal Affairs regarding awarding the municipality's facilities and buildings safeguarding, and approving additional costs for the works of transporting electrical cables within the city of Abu Dhabi.

The committee also agreed to two memoranda submitted by the Department of Economic Development regarding the formation of the Abu Dhabi Council of Quality and Compliance, and setting up a unit for investment projects and opportunities.

The Executive Committee also discussed a number of important topics and memoranda presented by the emirate's government departments listed on its agenda and related to the implementation of plans and projects.
