Dubai, UAE: The 20th International Operations & Maintenance Conference in The Arab Countries (OMAINTEC) was held recently in Riyadh, under the theme ‘The Role of Maintenance in Sustainability, Environment and Clean Energy’ recently.

The conference celebrated the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Arab Council of Operations & Maintenance, and it brought together a number of experts and scholars specialised in the Operations and Maintenance sector.

The conference included 11 discussion sessions and 12 specialised workshops with more than 700 attendees. Moreover, 60 speakers from 20 different countries were invited to speak and share their expertise at the conference through their scientific papers it covered a wide range of topics, including sustainability, recycling, the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in asset and facilities management, and the study of the life cycle of buildings.

Prof. Mufid Al Samarai, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Council, highlighted that this year’s conference was very successful due to the participation of many experts and scholars with interesting research topics in the field of operations and maintenance, and he emphasised the remarkable participation from the United Arab Emirates. Prof. Al Samarai went on to praise the excellent organisation and generous hosting of the conference organisers.

Within the conference activities, a trip to Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University was organised for the speakers, the visit aimed to show the large maintenance and operation management being held currently at the university.
