Dubai, 6th October 2004: Qatar Telecom (Qtel) today announced the successful implementation and launch of their latest Project Management services based on Microsoft's Enterprise Project Management Solution. This solution enables Qtel to better manage projects and resources, collaborate, and analyze and report on projects across an entire portfolio
The solution was jointly implemented by Microsoft and Estarta Solutions, a leading provider IT solutions in the Middle East region. The Microsoft Office EPM Solution enables organizations to better manage projects and resources, collaborate, and analyze and report on projects across an entire portfolio. Web-based portfolio management tools help executives align people and projects with business objectives, quickly identify problems, and take corrective actions. Team members easily update project information, collaborate, and stay informed through email and Web-based tools. And project managers continue to use the familiar and comprehensive project management features of Project Professional. An extensible architecture enables organizations to integrate the EPM Solution with existing line-of-business systems--for a complete solution.
Yousef Al-Masri, Senior Manager of Information Technology at Qtel said: "While we continue to launch new products and services to meet the expectations and needs of our customers, we also create and manage new lines of services as part of our strategic goal of providing world-class services. The Enterprise Project Management solution will be the engine that will drive the progress and implementation of our projects and ensure timely delivery and optimum use of resources".
"As Qtel is expanding its operations beyond Qatar, we anticipate that a growing number of projects will be launched. A project management solution is expected to increase project efficiency and managerial transparency of projects across the enterprise" adds Raid Shahin, Management Support Manager at Qtel and the EPM Deployment Manager.
The deployment of the EPM Solution took 45 days from the moment of inception to operational status. Joint teams of Qtel, Microsoft and Estarta staff worked on defining the business requirements and customizing the solution to meet the project management methodology of Qtel.
"We have successfully implemented this solution for regional clients across various industries, including the telecommunications sector. Our experience in EPM indicates that this solution caters to clients' needs through the reliability and control it exhibits. Our structured methodology of implementing this solution is a key factor in our successful efforts" says Mosab Sayyed, Estarta telecommunications sector manager
Through familiar tools and ease of integration with a broad range of programs in the Microsoft Office System, the EPM Solution promotes broad participation for greater accuracy, accountability and acceptance.
"The Microsoft EPM Solution implemented at Qtel is an excellent tool that helps Qtel to better control all aspects of a project. All of its rich features are working in one direction, helping the project teams at Qtel to make the right decisions by providing them with accurate, up-to-date data" elaborated Mohammad Hammoudi, Microsoft Business Development Manager in Qatar.
