Photo printers, photoviewers and scanners generate considerable interest at IT exhibition

Epson has announced that it is showcasing an array of products targeted at amateur and professional photographers in the region, at the GITEX Technology Week 2008. Epson's GITEX stand B4-20 in hall 4 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre features its latest photo printers, photo viewers and photo scanners that offer the best of technological innovation and user-friendliness.

The Epson Stylus Photo R1900 incorporates the latest developments from Epson to provide durable, superior quality photos up to A3+ on a wide range of media. It includes groundbreaking image processing algorithms to manage colour combinations and ensure beautiful prints.  It also features a new formulation of Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink technology; UltraChrome Hi-Gloss2 represents the evolution of photographic printing, offering a wider colour gamut, natural skin tones and consistent colour with a smooth gloss finish.

At GITEX, visitors can also see Epson's new range of professional media management tools designed to allow photographers to store and view high quality images when on the move. The P-7000 and P-6000 Photoviewer; featuring high capacity hard-drives, at 160GB and 80GB respectively, and both products incorporate a large 4 inch 640x480 Epson Photo Fine Premia LCD screen.

With a wider viewing angle and wide colour gamut covering 94 percent of the Adobe® RGB colour space, photographer's benefit from enhanced viewing clarity and the ability to examine their images in fine detail. The Photoviewers can even be used in conjunction with Adobe® Photoshop® as a USB wide gamut display, while photo editing or performing post-production work, giving the same level of colour accuracy as a professional monitor costing three times as much. Improved ergonomics, including a new scroll-wheel, makes ease-of-use one of the resounding qualities of the new devices.

Epson's Perfection V500 Photo scanner, designed to meet the needs of the advanced amateur photographer, is the first Charged-Coupled Device (CCD) scanner to use white LED as a light source, and delivers fast scanning speeds with low power consumption to ensure it is ENERGY STAR compliant. When switched on it warms up within one second, meaning virtually no waiting time to start using the scanner.  With its compact and stylish black exterior, 6400dpi optical resolution and high compression PDF scanning, the Epson Perfection V500 Photo meets the photo and film reproduction needs for the home, office or school.

Also on display at GITEX will be the Epson Stylus Photo R2880, which has recently been recognised as the best photo printer in Europe by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). As the printer allows three different black inks to be used - light black, light-light black and photo black - tonal gradation is perfect in black and white prints. The photo printer uses Epson's new LUT Technology and Epson UltraChrome K3 Ink with Vivid Magenta.

At GITEX 2008, Epson will also be showcasing its new premium flatbed scanner, the Perfection V750 Pro, which is ideal for the professional photographer. It offers a resolution of up to 6400dpi x 9600dpi, the innovative Dual Lens System, DIGITAL ICE™ Technologies and 4.0 DMax optical density. The Dual Lens System features a Super Resolution Lens offering up to 6400dpi film scanning (up to 5.9" width) and a High Resolution Lens offering up to 4800dpi reflective scanning and film scanning (over 5.9" width.) By providing two lenses instead of one single lens Epson is able to offer the high resolution of 6400dpi in a cost effective scanner, without increasing the A4 footprint or compromising on quality.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, "Epson's products for the photography segment have been witnessing a steady increase in demand in recent years, mainly due to the high quality of output, choice of features and ease of use. This year at GITEX, visitors will have a chance to see the latest range of products in this category, and we are confident that these products will create considerable buzz at the event."
