Khan Murjan is Wafi's latest development and is an authentic Islamic souk with an Arabic architecture based on a 14th century souk in Baghdad.
At the heart of the souk there is a courtyard restaurant that is air conditioned providing the lively social scene of Khan Murjan; it is a place where people can gather to enjoy an authentically cooked meal, shisha, lively conversation and musical entertainment.
The three Syrian musicians play the Arabic drum, the qanoon, the oud plus the violin and sing. The band provides an enchanting atmosphere that visitors can experience the captivating sounds of traditional Arabic music. They play daily at the Khan Murjan Restaurant from 8pm until midnight and they play in the afternoon during weekends from 2:30pm until 4pm.
"The Syrian band sings traditional middle-eastern songs that go well with the theme of the restaurant and the whole souk," said the Manager of Khan Murjan Restaurant. "The band completes the traditional atmosphere in the way they dress and sing, bringing back the old beautiful days to life."
Khan Murjan offers 150 bazaar style shops in its four quarters - Egyptian, Syrian, Turkish and Moroccan with a wealth of goods from artisans; many of whom will be happy to share their experiences with guests. Khan Murjan is open daily from 10am until 10 pm and is open until midnight on Thursday and Friday.
