By the year 2020, creativity will be one of the top three skills valued by employers as more traditional roles are replaced by automated programs and machines.[1]
That’s according to the World Economic Forum’s ‘The Future of Jobs’ report which highlights a significant shift in the importance of creative skills, placing it on a similar level to people management and emotional intelligence.
Hiring for creative roles and assisting Emirati job seekers in the right paths to these positions is one of the key focal points for the 18th edition of Careers UAE which takes place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 13-15 March 2018.
“There is no denying that technology has drastically changed the way in which businesses operate, and is one of the many trends to keep on the radar,” said Ibrahim Seksek, Cofounder and COO at ZenHR Solutions, an HR and recruitment firm in Dubai.
“Job seekers should know that the market is becoming more and more competitive and education is no longer enough to secure a position or to succeed in a career; they must start working on their soft skills and establish how to differentiate themselves from other candidates.”
The HR Solutions Partner for Careers UAE, ZenHR Solutions believe there has been a major shift in the way recruitment and performance matters are handled, signalling technology and automation as catalysts.
More recently, the UAE’s largest internship and graduate job website, InternsME have recorded a noticeable spike in the applications and hiring in sectors requiring creative skills.
Jean-Michel Gauthier, CEO at InternsME said, “In 2018, we're seeing internships and graduate jobs in creative industries grow at three times the rate of the early career market as a whole. Marketing, sales and design are leading with the highest growth in SMEs and MNCs alike.
“We’re also seeing the rise of hybrid roles at the region's most innovative companies — there’s a growing demand for talent that understands the creative process and technology. What companies are really looking for are people that can create new ways to work with the highest efficiencies.”
A variety of local and international companies operating in the public and private sectors are set to guide, advise and hire some of the brightest and best qualified UAE National students, fresh graduates and young professionals at the three-day career exhibition.
Asma Al Sharif, Portfolio Director – Exhibitions, DWTC said, “Companies such as ZenHR Solutions and InternsME are playing an important role in finding the best suited candidate for a position. With an increased importance being placed on the need for creative roles and skills, they are contributing to a more productive workforce. Not just for the event but for the entirety of the UAE.”
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the event will educate visitors on how their skills and qualifications are best suited for different professions in the public and private sectors through three days of conferences, interviews and an insight into new employment opportunities.
