The Emirates Group has reaffirmed its commitment to employee welfare by establishing a new first aid training programme for staff members working at its offices in Dubai and at Dubai International Airport.
With over 26,000 employees based in Dubai, Emirates ensures that a significant number are trained in first aid to assist their colleagues in the event of an emergency.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Clive Reed, Emirates' Senior Vice President - Training & Development, and Brian Colbourne, Chief Operating Officer of the UAE-based Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT) for the training programme, which is accredited by the American Heart Association.
Clive Reed said: 'Emirates considers its employees its main assets in the continued success of its business and is committed to maintaining their health and safety in the workplace.
'In this regard, I am pleased to establish our relationship with CERT for this first aid training programme.'
CERT's qualified trainers carry out the programme at the Emirates Aviation College which involves training in CPR and other medical and trauma-related topics.
'CERT has always been at the forefront in developing relationships with leading institutions around the world to ensure that we are able to leverage the best programmes for the benefit of businesses in the UAE and region,' commented Brian Colbourne. 'We are very pleased with our relationship with Emirates Group to provide first aid training accredited by the American Heart Association.'
The chosen staff members are awarded the First Aid Certificate on completion of training and undergo yearly recurrent training to maintain their skills.
